We’ve all heard the news: overweight and obese teenagers are tipping the scales at an alarming rate.

According to the Canada Health Measure Survey (2010), over 26% of children and youth are overweight. Additionally, 60% of Canadian youth do not get the required daily physical activity for optimum growth and development. 93% of children and youth are not meeting Canada’s physical activity guidelines.

So they are a little overweight. No big deal, right? Wrong! Consider how an effective fitness program at Revolution can help your child be healthier and set the foundation for an adult lifestyle free from medical problems commonly associated with excess weight: depression, Type II diabetes, increased risk of heart disease, etc.The Public health Agency recommends that youth (12 to 17 years) perform an hour of moderate to intense activity every day, and that intense activities are at least three days a week.

The benefits of fitness for youth are tremendous and include:

  • Meeting new friends
  • Doing better at school
  • Increased concentration
  • Improvements in self-esteem
  • Building stronger bones and muscles
  • Improved mental health and fitness
  • Improved posture and balance
  • Reduced stress
  • A stronger heart

You can feel confident that when you bring your child to Revolution’s Student Boot Camp, they will be treated with genuine respect by our trained staff. Whether your child is a rising young athlete or just beginning an exercise program, they will love our youth boot camp! Our mission at our boot camp is to successfully promote and provide safe, fun and interactive fitness solutions for youth, no matter what their fitness level is. We’re dedicated to improving the health and well-being of our youth members by creating an environment that fosters good health, self-esteem, confidence, friendship and fun.

Our cycling classes are also a great element of a teen’s fitness program. The cardiovascular workout set to energetic music is intense and motivating for teens! Revolution does not want to limit our classes to a certain demographic, and youth 13 and over can attend all our cycling classes! (under 16 requires a guardian’s signed permission)

Children’s Fitness Tax Credit (Canada)

Budget 2006 introduced a federal tax credit to promote physical activity among children. Effective January 1, 2007, parents of young people under the age of 16 who register their children in programs that promote physical activity can claim a federal tax credit for up to $500 per year per child on registration fees and memberships.
